National Executive Director, AYSO
Mike Hoyer joined the AYSO National Office team in 2015 after serving as Corporate Officer and member of the board of directors of Filtronics, Inc., for 21 years. Filtronics manufactures industrial and municipal water and waste water treatment equipment. This work led to travel across the US, Canada, Mexico, and other foreign countries.
Mike’s soccer experience began in AYSO as a youth player and youth referee then as a founding member of Region 75 in Whittier, California. The playing pathway also included club soccer in Southern California, High School, and college. Mike still plays today with in an adult recreational league.
He returned to AYSO as a volunteer coach when his children began playing soccer in 2004 and continued through last year. Coaching led to other volunteer opportunities including Regional Commissioner to manage a local community league of 1,100 players. This was followed by a term as Area Director with oversight of seven programs in the South Bay with 10,000 players and 2,500 volunteer. The last position of volunteer AYSO management included election to the National Board of Directors in 2013. Mike stepped down from the board of directors and vice president, when brought on as AYSO’s Deputy Executive Director.
Mike holds various AYSO certifications for coach, referee, and management that also includes instructor training. He also has a US Soccer F license.
Mike was appointed the National Executive Director in May 2016 and leads the team of 50 at AYSO’s National Office in Torrance, CA.
